Vocabius
Made for the 1-BIT Jam within one week (with about 3 days of focused work).
You're the word wizard Vocabius. Defend your tower by SPELLing words to shine a light on the army of darkness!
Your enemies will yield to your spell depending on what type they are:
- Little Demon (X): Eliminated if your word has "X" in it.
- Squiggly Squirmer (X__ / __X): Eliminated if your word starts or ends with "X".
- Stink Fly (Number N): Eliminated if your word is of the length "N"
IMPORTANT: For every letter in your word, the enemies will take a step forward. Longer words are powerful, but use them wisely!

Oh boy do I love word games and this one was definitely fun! Really cool how the longer the word the more the enemies moved up meaning I had to strategically use all the letters on screen that I could so I wouldn't die. I also like the art style with the cute looking enemies and of course the SPELLing I had to do. Fun game! I will say that it was a bit confusing at first figuring out what enemies needed to be killed with what but I figured it out eventually... Nice job in the jam!! Might be the only word game I've seen in it :D
Thank you so much for the kind words! I've added a banner which hopefully will help with confusion. I had some ideas with upgrades and abilities to make it more thinky and interesting, but no time to execute all of it, so I would like to expand on this game in the future. Your feedback is much appreciated!
Banner definitely helps! Great work :D
edit : this game is soooo addicting I keep coming back to play it lmao. I did have issues with the difference between U and V because of the font while playing though which is a minor issue ;)
I'm happy to hear you are enjoying the game and coming back to play :D. Yes, I was a bit on the fence with my font choices. I think if I were to go back I would have gone for a less pixeled font, since clarity is more important than being pixel perfect.
